What makes the internet dangerous?

As I’m researching on the topic of technology, I started to look more into the danger of internet use and what can come about it. There are many dangerous scenarios that have occurred throughout the world that may or may not have been noticed. As one may think the internet is safe, it can lead to problems such as rape, sex-trafficking, etc. In an article I looked into, the purpose of it was to increase the understanding of children and youth’s online interactions and experiences of cyber abuse. Some topics included in the article is the awareness of potential online danger, cyber abuse and its effects, online dating, cyber stalking and exposure to pornography. With all this being said, the internet can be ones worst nightmare. An example provided in one of my links is how a thirty year old man got arrested for sending explicit photos to a eleven year old girl on Facebook. In my opinion this isn’t only the mans fault, but also the parent’s of the little girl. Should they have been more stricter on internet sites? This is fascinating because it shows that no matter where you are from, things like this can happen anywhere including the town of Chico. This is important because you think about how this could have gone farther and things could been worse. In many cases, death or rape can occur and luckily, nothing happened to the girl. Also the internet has a big impact on sex-trafficking, which is unfortunately sad and upsetting.

Is this a possible topic that can possibly be successful? I don’t really have any questions as of right now.

This is actually really cool have you heard of the show Eyecandy? that show actually shows the dangers your phone can bring to you. People can actually be seeing you as you use your phone it’s suggested to cover laptop cameras as well as a hacker could invade into your privacy. Yes the internet has really became a part of our lives but to what extent will we allow it to make us go through danger.

Your topic of the danger of internet is so interesting. Although i do here a lot of things about cyber bully i never put it to the perspective of the parents and how they should make the children more aware of how the internet is kind of like a world that people from around the world can access, whether they can be good people or bad.

After reading your blog, I have begun to think about this issue because it does affect everyone in one way or another. For example, the eleven year old could of been ones sister, daughter, or relative. To know this happens everywhere scares me because I have younger sisters who are also exposed to these types of problems when they surf the web. But it also bring into mind how important it is for me to warn them about all the possible harms the internet can cause. Your blog was great, and it has made me think about this issue a lot more than I had been before.

Great job Alejandra! I think you can do a lot with this topic and there are so many different directions in which you can go. It is a very intriguing and important topic! I think the next step will be to narrow down your “topic” even further and this can be done by reading a variety of topics on the matter. Do you want to focus on a certain age group? A gender? Do you want to focus on the girls behind the pornography many people watch? Or do you want to focus on how people use the internet to track down rape victims? It also might be interesting to look into the opposing view and see how the internet and technology has been used to help prevent sex-trafficking or rape and/or help spread awareness about such discouraging matters.
This is a great start and I am so excited to see where you go with this!

Hello. I agree with you, I believe the internet has many dangers when using it. I also want to agree with you that not everything is the fault of the person doing it. I believe that the parents should have taken action and they should have looked at what it is their children are doing. They should have been stricter and warned their daughter about what to do when being in a position like that and teach them how to take action. I also believe that school should learn to educate their students in using the internet by bringing awareness about the use of the internet.

in about 16 days there will be a decision on whether or not the internet should stay the way it is today or be controlled by cable company. It’s a pretty heated battle that is or will affect us all in the future.
